In 2005, concerned about the mental health implications of the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts on Service members, Veterans and their families, I founded Give an Hour, a national non profit organization that provides them free mental health care by harnessing the generosity of mental health professionals.

As President of Give an Hour until 2019, I built robust partnerships with the U.S. government, the U.K. Ministry of Defense, the corporate sector as well as other non profit organizations. I worked with government officials from Australia, Canada, Georgia, Italy, New Zealand and Ukraine – on efforts to address the immediate and long-term consequences of war on the mental health of those most directly affected.

During my tenure, Give an Hour expanded to provide care and support to others in need including victims of natural disasters (hurricanes, tornados and wildfires); survivors of gun violence; as well as at risk and underserved youth and families. Give an Hour has provided over 350,000 hour of free mental health care to those in need.
